Food You Didn't Cook Tastes So Much Better

I'm not talking about the "raw food" movement, people. I'm talking homemade comfort food delivered to your doorstep!

I wrote about my surgery last week and how well we were being taken care of. You have no idea. First off, my BFF Stephanie came over at 8:00 a.m. to watch Dash until my mom could get there. Not only did she watch my kid, she cleaned my house. When I walked in the door later that day, I almost cried. Except that would have hurt too much.

Then, the food started coming in. We were treated to some of the most amazing meals. They were all really good. But, I find that food I didn't cook tastes even better! Anyone with me on this?
Not to totally make you jealous (you will be, sorry), but here's what we received:

  • Pot roast, angel food cake with strawberries

  • Swedish meatballs, macaroni & cheese, Caesar salad (with homemade Caesar dressing!), lingonberry sauce

  • Pasta with meat sauce, bread, brownies

  • Lasagna, salad, bread, chocolate cake

  • Meatloaf, mashed potatoes, green beans

  • Stuffed chicken breasts, wild rice pilaf, peas

  • Ravioli casserole (had to freeze because we had too much food!)
Thanks to Stephanie (for organizing the meals), Dominique, Michelle, Heather, Colleen, and the amazing Francie. We were totally spoiled rotten blessed in abundance last week!

  3. I know this feeling! Our church organizes food for after babies and we were TOTALLY spoiled after my last child! The best part is that almost everyone brought chocolate chip cookies to go with the meal. : )

  8. All these delicious meals - explain why I get nervous when I have to cook a meal for someone else. I'm much better with gift cards! Prayed that you feel well soon. I just looked at your profile and saw that we have many similarities - esp. the reading part. I am going to start doing more blogs about reading, and I will look forward to seeing what you read.

  9. I know exactly what you mean! Our SS Class does food for a MONTH when someone has a baby (every OTHER night); there are a lot of us. When I made those meals all those years before we had babies, it was no big deal, we were happy to do it and we really enjoyed getting to see the family (if only briefly). When you are on the receiving end, though, it is AMAZING! You feel so loved and taken care of- that is one of the many great things about having a new baby again that I'm looking forward to! Hope you are feeling much better!

  10. I absolutely agree that good comfort food you didn't have to cook is the BEST!! I usually make my Dad cook for me when he comes to visit. I have all his recipes but there is just something about the way I don't have to cook or cleanup after it that pleases me more.
