Crescent Roll Goodness

I was recently selected to host a "MyGetTogether" via the General Mills Psst program. This is a great program and I have gotten to try some great free products! Crescent rolls, of course, are not new to me, and I do love them.

My original plan was to host a New Moon movie night with some girlfriends. BUT, I accidentally overscheduled myself and had to cancel.

Teacher appreciation week at Dash's school was the next week, so I used my crescent roll loot (they provided me with several free product coupons) to make some snacks for his teachers instead! I made...

Yum. Please go make these. Seriously. I probably could have eaten about half a batch myself! (I had to taste test everything, hello?) I could not find shredded swiss at Walmart, so I just got some slices and cut it up. Turned out fine. I wasn't paying attention to the directions, and mixed everything together. Still turned out fine. Clearly, it's hard to mess these up! I did follow one important tip that someone left in the review section of the recipe: After you roll them up, put in the refrigerator or freezer for a few minutes to firm up. They are much easier to cut this way.

I subbed peanut butter chips and pecans for the vanilla chips and cashews, and I left out the almonds. Ok, but not great. The crescent roll crust just didn't do it for me. I was worried about the crust getting too crispy, so I didn't pre-bake the crust. Even with that, it was a little overdone for my taste. I've made something like this before called Almost Candy Bars, and they are awesome. The cake mix makes a better crust, and it's not as terribly sweet as you may think.

I am planning to make this for them next week too: Cherry Cream Cheese Coffee Crescent Braid (try saying that three times fast, gracious!). It looks similar to my Alligator recipe. Can't wait to see how it stacks up!

A few of my all-time favorite Crescent Roll recipes:
Mini-Crescent Dogs
Easy Apple Dumplings
Pepperoni 'n Cheese Crescents

Disclosure: Pillsbury provided me with free product coupons, a cash card for extra ingredients, as well as aprons, cookbooks, and coupons to give away (which I did). I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.

  1. Jen,

We love, love, love crescents around here!
I do believe I'll make all of these. I take a dish for our time of fellowship in Sunday school each week. Any of these recipes would work well!
Thanks for sharing and congrats on being chosen to review the Pillsbury products!
If you like, I'd love for you to add this to my little meme on Friday, "Finger-lickin' Good Recipes Friday." I know my friends would love to introduced to these great crescent recipes, too! We are all suckers for crescents - and Pillsbury makes the best! I alway have cents off coupons, too! Even better!! Have a wonderful day!!

  2. Crescent rools are so versitile!

Thanks for stopping by my blog and leaving a comment! :)

  3. YUM!! Not familiar with that program - sounds awesome =)

My fave is a block of cream cheese, top with herbs - thyme or chives. Wrap in Crescents, glaze with egg yolk and bake - like a baked brie, but more people like it =)

  4. Yummy! All of these look wonderful! I'm glad I found your site! :)

  5. My brother and his wife make a yummy crescent roll appetizer with cream cheese and bacon and onions inside. Deeelish! :)

  6. Those pinwheels look yummy! :)

  7. We are having a small get together this weekend and I will be making the pinwheels without a doubt. I'm thinking I will have to make a double batch they sound so good.

Thanks for stopping by my blog and leaving a commment!
